On Immigration – Facebook Status gets it wrong

Go Back

Recently seen making the rounds on Facebook is a status message about Immigration & how America differs from several countries in its treatment of those who enter the USA without official permission.

Here is the latest version of the message (earlier ones included more countries in its comparisons):

If you cross the North Korean border illegally, you get 12 years hard labor. If you cross the Afghanistan border illegally, you get shot. If you cross the U.S. border illegally you get: a job, a drivers license, a place to live, housing benefit, health care, education, child benefit, tax free business for 7yrs. Need I carry on? Put this in your status if you agree….No wonder we are a country in debt.

And here is my response:

Do you really want to consider North Korea or Afghanistan worthy countries to compare to the USA on anything ?

We are a country in debt due to the consumer culture foisted upon us & sold to us by big corporations that need us to be in debt & buying their junk. As far as the government goes, most of the deficit is due to 2 things: Bush-era tax cuts on the uber-rich & corporations and 3 wars that benefit no one (except the military-industrial complex and our enemies in other lands, who use these wars to recruit more followers to their cause).

On Immigration, most Americans are descended from immigrants & the current limits on who is legal are a recent change (when compared to the 200+ years since 1776).

Immigrants are not your enemy.

Unnatural persons (corporations set up solely for profit & with perpetual existence) ARE your enemy.

If you don’t believe me on that, please see :Income Inequality in America and How the Oligarchs Took America, as well as many other blogsites and newsites that document where America is going versus where it has been.
