Wasting the Time of the Notary Public

I had a call for Notary Public services, and as I am no longer having folks come to our home, I offered to meet her at Wendy’s nearby.

She drove over from Whitehaven (20-30 minutes each way); I drove less than 2 miles.

The document to be Notarized was an Affidavit of Indigency for a lawsuit she was filing the next day. When I told her she would have to fill in all the blanks, she said they were all N/A. Well, if the Affidavit does not apply, how can you swear or affirm under penalty of perjury that it is true? You can’t !

I let her know that her attorney should give her legal advice, but, as she clearly had the money for the case (in a money order among the papers she showed me) & as the Affidavit did not apply in her situation, I could not “just Notarize it.”

She wasted her time & gas driving across town for no reason. At least, MY trip was short. This is the last time I will drive anywhere for free.
