When I started the Write Nonfiction in November challenge, one big question was how big should my goal be? One answer was “a book is usually about 50,000 words, so go for that.” Well, I am happy to report that I broke that word count earlier tonight.
My Book is Now OVER 50,000 Words! Yipee! YAY!
At this point, my work in progress (American Notary Basics) now stands at 50,835 words !
To put that into perspective, that’s 27,440 more words than I had in the book when the month began, which is pretty amazing considering I feel off the writing wagon for a week and have only gotten back to writing for 2 days.
I still have a bunch of sections to write and only 7 more days to get them written (one of which is Thanksgiving), but I CAN do this and I WILL do this. It may not be a pretty pile of words at the end of November, but it WILL be a finished first draft.
Congratulations, Tim! That’s a huge accomplishment–I hope you’re taking time to pat yourself on the back. 50,000+ words is no small feat! You are an inspiration.

Thanks, Donna. No time for patting. My goal is 60K on the first draft so I can trim it down in editing. 😀
